2021 Holiday Gift Guide For Cyclists

Happy Holidays!! When the cooler temps set in that means it’s time for…new cycling gear! Shopping for cyclists can be tricky, especially if you are not a cyclist, so I’ve compiled a list of some of my go to year round gear and bike maintenance items along with some seasonal favorites to keep you, or your loved one(s) warm while riding.

This post includes affiliate link(s), meaning, at no cost to you, I will earn commission if you click through and make a purchase. I only endorse products that I absolutely love.

A note – I LOVE shopping at locally owned shops for many of these products and would encourage you to support local when you can! I get most of my gear at Inside Out Sports in Cary, NC. Inside Out carries the Castelli vest, Kask helmet, Specialized pump, Simple Green wash, Muc-off lube, chain cleaning kit, and lights.

Specialized Air Tool Comp Floor Pump: A good pump will last you for years and years. With quality construction and a higher air volume, this pump will keep your tires topped off for years to come. Not to mention lots of replaceable parts to keep you going for years and years after that.

Cycling Socks: Personally, I love the Defeet Cyclismo Socks. They have light compression so they stay up no matter the conditions, they look good, and they last forever (seriously, I have pairs that are at least 4-5 years old and they’re still going strong).

Wera Hex Wrenches: If you’re going to work on your own bike, a set of quality wrenches is a MUST to prevent damage to bolts and components. These wrenches are easily the best hex wrenches I’ve ever used for working on bikes without rounding out bolts.

Castelli Squadra Stretch Vest: A vest is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing in my cycling wardrobe and ends up getting used for 3 seasons. I really like this vest which doesn’t have all the frills, but has a good fit, is light, and easily packs into a jersey pocket or handlebar bag.

Kask Protone Helmet: You can’t overstate the importance of a quality helmet. I’ve had a few Kask helmets now and they’re all comfortable, but the thing I like about the protone is the aerodynamic design mixed with large vents to help keep you cool.

Park Tool CG-2.4 Chain Cleaning Kit: I’m a huge proponent of regular bike maintenance, and regularly cleaning and re-lubricating your chain will help maximize the life of all of your drivetrain components. This kit is one of the easiest (if not THE easiest) way to keep your drivetrain sparkling.

Muc-Off Hydrodynamic Chain Lube: With the cooler, wetter weather this time of year, I like to swap out my usual lube for something a little more durable and water resistant. Muc-Off’s Hydrodynamic lube fits the bill perfectly and smells nice (something I never thought I’d care about in a bike lube).

Simple Green Foaming Bike Wash: Probably the best and simplest bike wash I’ve ever used. Just spray on, let sit for a couple of minutes, and simply wipe or rinse dirt and road grime off without needing to scrub.

Moon Sport Orion Light Set: With days getting shorter and less daylight in general, it’s a good idea to have a good set of lights to increase your visibility.
